2638457 - How to update a label with a blank value

In the SAP SuccessFactors Learning, you want to have a blank Label value. When clearing the Label field and clicking Save you get the error:

Validation Error

You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:

• Label Value is required

1. Access the Learning Administration and click - References > Manage Labels > Labels.
2. Search and edit the label that needs to be blank.
3. In the label record, choose the Locales tab.
4. Delete the Label Value text for the Locale and Apply Changes

Label cannot be saved with a blank value.

A workaround can be utilized to blank out the label value but should be fully tested as the same label can be used in many places. Blanking out the label value will not change the user interface spacing.

1. Access the Learning Administration and click - References > Manage Labels > Labels.
2. Search and edit the label that needs to be blank.
3. In the label record, choose the Locales tab.
4. Delete the Label Value field
5. The Label Value field will now be filled in with a blank value by holding down Alt on your keyboard and pressing 255 on the number pad. Let go of Alt and the ASCII value for "nbsp" will be added to the field.
6. Apply Changes
