2638468 - Error While assigning an Org Unit to an Employee During Hiring Process

You are hiring an Employee and when you try to assign an Org Unit XXX to this Employee, you receive the below errors:

(XXX represents the Org Unit ID)

Error:

"No valid cost center assigned to selected organizational unit"
"No valid business residence assigned to selected organizational unit"

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Personnel Administration workcenter
2. Select Regular Tasks view
3. Select Required Country
4. Select Hire Employee option
5. Enter the Personal Data for the Employee
6. Select Next

After entering Personal Data when click Organizational Unit to choose one specific Organizational Unit, the above ,mentioned errors occur.

The reason for this error is because the Organization Unit which are assigning to the employee is not defined as Cost Center and the selected org unit or any org unit above this one is not defined as Business Residence.

Define the Required Org Unit as Cost Center and Business Residence following the below steps:

1. Go to Organizational Management
2. Select the Required Org Unit
3. Select Edit
4. Select Definitions tab

Assign the required Definition and Save, Check and Activate.

Note: Make sure to select the correct valid to date as per your requirement and also make sure that these new assigned definitions are aligned with your existing Org Structure.
