2638552 - Sales Kit Sub-Items do not Follow Sales Kit Header on Sales Order

Symptom

On a Sales Order, you notice that the Sales Kit sub-items do not follow immediately after the Sales Kit header in the Item worklist.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Sales Orders Work Center.
  2. Go to the Sales Order View.
  3. Search for Sales Order XXX and select it (XXX stands for the Sales Order ID).
  4. Click on Edit, then View All.
  5. Navigate to the Items tab.

You can see that the Sales Kit header and the sub-items are not in sequential order.
For instance, the Sales Kit header is Line Item 10 but the sub-items are line 30 and 40. There is another unrelated item on line 20.

Cause

This behavior is caused because empty lines were first added and then filled in. That is, you created lines 10 and 20 as empty and then assigned the relevant items to them, starting with the Sales Kit on line 10.

The logic is as such: when you create empty lines (10 and 20), temporary line item IDs are assigned for the items.
When you add a Sales Kit Header item to line item 10, line 20 appears as already assigned.
The system creates additional item nodes for the Sales Kit sub-items as lines 30 and 40.

Resolution

This is the expected system behavior.

To ensure that a Sales Kit header and the Sub-items are in sequence, first, fill in the Sales Kit ID on line 10 and let the system create the Sub-item nodes automatically with the next IDs.
