Symptom

When logging in through Repository Explorer a popup error 'Internal error: Unable to initialize the session manager.' appears
- After clicking 'OK' no options are listed in the 'Authentication' drop down list - clicking OK returns the same error message as above.

Cause
Invalid CORBA SSL entries exist in the registry
Resolution
***WARNING***: The following resolution involves editing the registry. Using the Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems. Use the Registry Editor at your own risk. Refer to KBA 1323322 for more information.
The following two resolutions both involve editing the entries in the following registry key (step 1 and 2)

Open the Microsoft Registry editor (regedit)
- If Windows OS is 32 bit then navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\CER
On 64 bit navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\CER
Resolution 1
- If not using CORBA SSL then the following keys must be deleted (or corrected if CORBA SSL is required):
CommicationProtocol
SSLCertDirectory
SSLCertificate
SSLKey
SSLPassphrase
SSLTrustCertificate
Resolution 2
- The following two key should provide a range of ports, some of which are NOT being used by other processes:
RequestPortLower (default 0)
RequestPortUpper (default 65536)
