2643621 - Business Rule is Triggering During New Hire Despite Not Having an Employee Information Model Base Object

Symptom

  • A Business Rule with Base Object of Job Information or Job Information Model is triggering during a New Hire.
  • Expected behavior is the system should trigger rules with a Base Object of Employee Information or Employee Information Model only in the New Hire Wizard.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a rule with Base Object different than "Employee Information" or "Employee Information Model" and save as onSave or onChange as per the below rule

   2. Go to "Add New Employee" and you will see the rule will trigger

Cause

All rules related to an employees data will trigger during a New Hire.

Resolution

  • This is currently expected behavior. All rules related to employee data, will trigger during a New Hire.
  • The "Employee Information" or "Employee Information Model" are used to ensure those rules will trigger in the New Hire Wizard only, but it does not mean rules with other Base Objects will not trigger in during a New Hire.
