2645704 - Error in customized Report:TREX-ERROR and/or No Connection to Search Engine

You created a custom report on a combined data source and want to enter a selection for a specific characteristic. When you enter the selection and click Go you will receive some error messages. For example 'TREX-ERROR (1987)', 'TREX error occurred', 'no connection to search engine' and 'error reading the data of datasource'.

SAP Cloud for Customer

1. Go to the Business Analytics work center.
2. Go to the Design Reports view.
3. Show all and search for your customized report.
4. Open the report.
5. Enter a selection for the characteristic that you choose as the combined characteristic of the data sources.
6. You will receive several error messages, for example TREX-ERROR and No Connection to Search Engine.

The issue is happening because of the characteristics of the underlying data sources (joined or combined) which have been mapped to the characteristic of the combined data source.

For example, in one data source the data type of the combined characteristic has a length of 20 and is technical identifier but in the other data source the data type length is 40 and is a normal identifier. These two characteristics are different and should not be combined into a single one in custom data source.

You can do 2 things to resolve this:
a) If you have other characteristics available for mapping, please remove the combined characteristic from one of the data sources.
b) If you need to show the affected characteristic, please create a new row in your joined/combined data source for this and map it to a different characteristic with the same data type.
