2645704 - Error in customized Report:TREX-ERROR and/or No Connection to Search Engine

Symptom

You created a custom report on a combined data source and want to enter a selection for a specific characteristic. When you enter the selection and click Go you will receive some error messages. For example 'TREX-ERROR (1987)', 'TREX error occurred', 'no connection to search engine' and 'error reading the data of datasource'.
