Symptom
After recently enabling a language from provisioning, the translation field for this language is missing, for example in Manage Business Configuration or Configure Object Definitions
Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.
Environment
-
Employee Central - MDF
- Metadata Framework
Cause
This can be caused by a field visibility issue or a deployment issue.
Resolution
-
Navigate to the "Translation" object in Configure Object Definitions
-
Check if the field for your local is listed, such as en_US
- If listed check that the visibility of the field is "Editable", if not set to "Editable" and save.
- If the field is not listed, the language was not fully deployed.
You will need to disable the language in provisioning and re-enable it again to resolve.
Note: It is expected that you won't see the language you are currently using as an option in the pop-up window. For example, if you are logged with English US language, you won't see English US in the options, but if you switch to another locale, you will see the option for it. In MDF, the value that you enter in a particular field would be taken as the value for user's logged in locale. Other translations can be entered in the pop up.
