2650449 - When Copying an Object The Object-Reference is Not Copied

When copying an object such as for example a Sales Quote, the original reference is not copied over to the new object.

In our example we are looking at a sales quote where the original quote has an opportunity reference. 

The same behaviour is true for other objects, with other original references. 

1. Go to the Sales work center.
2. Go to the Sales Quote view.
3. Open any Sales Quote ABC (ABC represents the name of your quote).
4. Select the Actions button -> Copy.
5. Enter a value in all Mandatory fields and select the Save and Open button.

The Opportunity maintained in the Quote ABC is not copied to the new Quote DEF (DEF represents the ID for the copied quote). 

The original reference will not be copied to the new object. The copy takes the content from the existing Quote but not from the preceding documents. Therefore the reference is not taken over.

This is the expected behaviour of the system.
