2650518 - DDL generated by ddlgen show garbled for Japanese characters - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • After using ddlgen to generate the DDL, Japanese characters in the output file do not display correctly. e.g.

    @a     VARCHAR(255),       --?????????????

  • Use -Jsjis option to run ddlgen, but issue persists.
  • Check the output of sp_helptext and the text column in syscomments table, the '???' characters can normally display.
  • ASE charset is configured as 141 (sjis).
