2650572 - 500 Connection timed out error in SAP MII at Connection Status

Symptom

"500 Connection timed out" error shows up in SAP MII menu when trying to access to Connection Status in Data Services.
"java.lang.NullPointerException: while trying to invoke the method com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.context.AttributePointer.getAttributePointer() of a null object loaded from local variable 'property'"
exception is shown in SAP NetWeaver defaulttraces.
