Symptom

  • ASE errorlog reports ELC_VALIDATION_ERROR
  • Followed by a signal 11 at address ubfshrink 
  • Which crashes ASE as the spid is holding SSQLCACHE_SPIN spinlock
  • The errorlog shows entries including:

ELC_VALIDATION_ERROR: Page not marked free. pelc = 0x2aaab06af2b8
