Symptom

  • A 'dump database' process is running for a long time, even after the dump has already completed.
  • The ASE concerned has many engines.
  • After the database dump has completed, ASE is taking a (very) long time to release memory pages related to the dump process.
  • Running 'dbcc stacktrace' command on remaining 'dump database' process shows functions such as:
       
    kpsuspend
    upyield
    mem__pagesfree
    mem_freepages
    free_mempage
