Symptom

SAP Information Steward rule or profile task hangs. It takes a long time to see the error in Application log and the error is as follows:

transaction rolled back by lock wait timeout: Lock-wait time out exceeded [TYPE=RECORD_LOCK, CURRENT_MODE=EXCLUSIVE, REQUESTED_MODE=EXCLUSIVE]
