Symptom

  • Trying to start ASE database and it gives a message that ASE is already in use;
  • When starting Sybase SQLServer service in Windows environment, it reports the message below:

The Sybase SQLServer _ SID service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs.

  • In ASE error log, you see a message similar to this:

Shared memory segment Global\SID.krg is in use. Check if ASE is already running. If NOT remove old .srg/.krg files & restart.
