Symptom
You would like to use the Outbound Delivery YYY as reference for the 3PL Inbound Delivery Notification XXX. However, the Inbound Delivery Notification is inconsistent.
XXX = Inbound Delivery Notification ID.
YYY = Outbound Delivery ID.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign.
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Third-Party Logistics work center.
- Select the Inbound Delivery Notifications view.
- Search for the Inbound Delivery Notification XXX.
- Open the Inbound Delivery Notification XXX.
- Select View All.
- Select Check Consistency.
You receive the error message:
One of the following references is missing: Sales order, customer invoice, or over-the-counter sale. Enter the missing data.
Cause
In order to process a Return Notification, it's necessary that the Outbound Delivery XXX you're using as a reference already exists in the system.
Resolution
As a workaround, you can use as reference the Sales Order ID. The system does not validate the Sales Order reference in the Return Notification because there are cases where it is necessary to take returns for a sale that was made before moving to SAP Business ByDesign.
