After having run the report RBDSAPSEGMENTEDIT as described in SAP Note 1786863 and trying to maintain the given segment in the transaction WE31, the error message

Name range violation: Name Z* not permitted in SAP system

Message No. EA269
Diagnosis
An attempt was made to change segment Z*.
System Response
This is not allowed in the current system.
