2672212 - How to maintain the URL in the dropdown list of 'Web service URL' when using Analysis for Office?

In Analysis for Office, you want to log on to BI Platform from the 'Logon to SAP BusinessObject BI Platform' screen, and you are expecting a way to select the URL entries of BI Launchpad in the dropdown list of 'Web service URL' field.

SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office

1. Open Analysis for Office.

2. Click 'Insert Data Source' button -> select 'Select Data Source for Analysis'.

3. 'Logon to SAP BusinessObject BI Platform' screen pops up, in 'Web service URL' field, the URL of BI Launchpad is required to be manually input or selected from dropdown list. Try expanding the dropdown list, but found there is only one intial entry:  http://<boe server hostname>:<port>/dswsbobje/services/Session

Dropdown list for the BI Launchpad web URLs are saved in AO configuration file 'Ao_user_roaming.config'.

Once a successful logon to one BI Launchpad is done in AO, the entry of this logon will be recorded in 'Ao_user_roaming.config' file.

1. Navigate to the folder %APPDATA%\Sap\Cof and open 'Ao_user_roaming.config' file.

2. In the file, please delete all the contents between <BOESystems></BOESystems> as below, then save and close the file.

3. Open AO, in the 'Logon to SAP BusinessObject BI Platform' screen, manually input the 'User', 'Password' and 'Web Service URL', then click the 'OK' button and confirm that you can log on to BI Platform successfully.

4. Reopen the  'Ao_user_roaming.config' file, you will see that Web Service URL info of your last successful logon to BI Platform in step 3 is recorded between <BOESystems></BOESystems>.

Note: It is not recommended to manually maintain the Web Service URL info in the file to aviod any mistake.

5. If you have multiple Web Service URLs that you want to add to the dropdown list, please repeat step 3-4.

6. You may deploy this file to users so that when they use AO to log on to BI Platform, there will be a list of the Web service URLs to select, instead of having to manually input the Web Service URLs.
