Symptom

  • Import Any Employee Central Record with Date Format (dd-MM-YYYY or MM-dd-YYYY) without any Error message
  • There is no validation when Importing Any Employee Central Record with Date Format (dd-MM-YYYY or MM-dd-YYYY) or ISO8601_DATE_FORMAT (yyyy-MM-dd).

Employee Central - Employee Data Imports

Reproducing the Issue

  1. log in  in Any Default Language
  2. Go Admin Tool -Import Employee Data
  3. Import any Employee Central record with Date Format: dd-MM-YYYY or MM-dd-YYYY,

Example:

  1. log in in USA or UK English 
  2. Trying to import a job record with start date "24-08-18" or "08-24-18" in the specified date format.

Import Result:

  1. There is no validation message for wrong date format and a record with start date "24-08-18" or "08-24-18"  is getting saved.
  2. Ideally the date format should be like "24/08/2018" or "08/24/2018".

Cause

  • This is a code defect
  • When the given date is not in the correct format defined for the selected Locale, it tries to format the date using ISO8601_DATE_FORMAT (yyyy-MM-dd).
  • Here in the import file the provided date is in the format of ISO8601, so it formats it accordingly and saves the record.

Resolution

This is a known issue. The engineering team is working on a fix for a future release.

No date has been confirmed at this time.

Please use the below workaround in the meantime:

Please suggest customer to provide the date in the format defined for the selected locale.

Example:

  • UK date in the format defined for the selected locale: dd/MM/YYYY
  • USA  date in the format defined for the selected locale: MM/dd/YYYY
