2672421 - Signal 11 in ubffreef() when running "select ... external file at ..." - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • A "select ... external file at ..." query similar to:

select @filever = version
from tempdb..dumphistxxxxxx
where rec_type = 0rchar(255))
external file at '/xxx/dumphist' column delimiter...

  •  May fail with an "infected with signal 11" error in the module ubffreef() followed by a stack trace, fro example:

Current process (0xcf0068) infected with signal 11 (SIGSEGV) 
Address 0x0x0000000002104139 (ubffreef+0x3d9), siginfo (code, address) = (1, 0x0xfffffffffffffff8)

  • The stack trace contains the following modules:

ubffreef
ufclose
dir_sendtext
DIRRemoteAccess::sendText
remoteAccessSendText
sendtext
