Symptom

  • An SAP Netweaver based system on IBM i is unable to start.
  • There are errors like:

Starting all instances of system <SID> on host <HOSTNAME>...
Starting ABAP central services instance...
RtvInstCfgByProfile: check instance profile <SID>_ASCS<NN>_<HOSTNAME>.
readInstInfoFromProfile: examining profile
"/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/profile/<SID>_ASCS<NN>_<HOSTNAME>".
Start profile is "/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/profile/START_ASCS<NN>_<HOSTNAME>".
Executable directory is "/usr/sap/<SID>/ASCS<NN>/exe".
