2674908 - An error occurred, please create an case (component MM-PUR-VM-REC)

Symptom

Using the app 'Mass Changes to Purchasing Info Records' to change a field value on multiple Purchasing Info Records simultaneously may result in an error message in the log stating, "An error occurred, please create a case (component MM-PUR-VM-REC)," and no changes are executed.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the App 'Mass changes to Purchasing Info Records'.
  2. Press GO.
  3. In the work list, select the documents intended for mass change.
  4. Choose Mass Edit. 
  5. Change for example the Short Text and press 'Apply Changes' and 'Apply'.
  6. A background job is scheduled immediately, choose OK. 
  7. Click on 'Mass Change Log'.
  8. The error log displays the message: "An error occurred, please create a case (component MM-PUR-VM-REC)."

Cause

The app 'Mass Changes to Purchasing Info Records' supports mass changes only for Purchase Info records with the standard item category '0'. Attempting to process Purchase Info records with any other item categories, such as Consignment or Subcontracting, will result in an error.

Resolution

Change Purchase Info records(PIR) with a non standard item category individually.
