2676869 - Requested Date in the Sales Orders Does Not Change as Expected

Symptom

When you change the Requested Date in Sales Order, the system resets the date back to original date which was present earlier.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Sales Orders work center.
  2. Go to the Sales Orders view.
  3. Show All Orders and find sales order XYZ (XYZ represents the ID of the sales order).
  4. Edit the sales order and select View All.
  5. In the General Tab, Change the Requested Date to Future date.

The system changes the date back to the date which was present before change.

Cause

Scenario 1:
According to the current system design when a Sales Order is created manually or  via intercompany scenario, function rules are determined for the Requested date(start date) and Requested end date.

  • When we are trying to change the Requested Date, the requested end date will also get adjusted to the changed date +24 hours .
  • When you change the Requested end date manually then the rule will get cleared off and no change happens to Requested start date.
  • If you change the Requested Date to a future date which is later than the current Requested End date, the requested end date will also get adjusted to the changed date +24 hours.
  • If you change the Requested end Date to a  date which is before  the current Requested start date, you will get error"Start date and time must be before end date and time"

Scenario 2:
When Sales Order is created via A2X web service these function rules are not determined and when we are changing the Requested Date then the Requested End date won’t get adjusted and it won’t allow the changes to Requested Date as end date is less than start date and date will get reset back to old value.

Scenario 3:
Default logic for calculation of requested end date  at  header level(general tab) of intercompany sales order is:
Requested start date is copied from first line item of sales order and  requested end date is + 24 hours of the requested start date.

Resolution

Scenario 1:Change the date in the Requested Date Field and also change the date in the Field Requested End as desired as per above mentioned logic in the cause section for Scenario 1.

Scenario 2:Change the date in the Requested Date Field and maintain the same date in the Field Requested End.

Please Note:

If Field Requested End is not available, then please add it to your Sales Order screen in General Tab using Personalization Mode.

When creating a sales order, the Requested Date on General tab will be copied to the item lines. When you changing the Requested Date on General tab,

  • If the line Requested Date is not changed before, the date will be updated according to the date on General tab.
  • If the line Requested Date once changed, then it will not be updated.
  • If the customer demand is released to the line, the requested date cannot be updated any more.
