2678898 - How to get the form data XML for a billing document

There is a requirement to view the underlying xml data of a form that is displayed.

Image/data in this document is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open the Manage Billing Documents app
2. Go to Output Items
3. Choose Display or Preview
   
   

It shows the pdf form, however it is necessary to see the underlying xml data instead.

1. Navigate to the Output Items of the billing document in the Manage Billing Documents app
2. Make sure that the Details column is selected in the view Settings
   
   
3. Choose Show More per Row to have the Output Details visible
   
   
   
4. Select an output item with status In Preparation and choose Edit
   
   
5. Set Channel to PRINT
6. Choose Output Details and set Print Queue as #&&DOWNLOAD_FORM_DATA_XML&&#
   
   
7. Choose Save
8. Choose Display to trigger the preview
   
   
9. The system shows the form data XML instead of a PDF
10. Save the XML
11. Revert the data on the output item to the original values for Channel and/or Print Queue
12. Choose Save

Remarks

• Works only for applications that have included the standard output control reuse screen in edit mode.
• Works only for output items in status 'In Preparation'. 
• Always returns the current data.
• Does not work for duplicates.
• The XML does not include data from the master form template.
• An output with print queue #&&DOWNLOAD_FORM_DATA_XML&&# is not possible.

Data Access

• A user who wants to get the form data XML needs the authorization to access the corresponding business document.
• Accessing the form data XML is logged in the application log of the output item with user name and time stamp.
