2680053 - Error Message: “General: Duplicate record detected with key value XYZ” While Modifying Materials Using Mass Data Maintenance

You have maintained the Material Description in multiple languages. Your requirement is to modify some data in Material. Upon exporting the Material, you see that multiple entries of the same Material are displayed due to multiple languages for the Material Description. While updating the Material you have chosen to update all entries of the same Material. System throws the error:

General: Duplicate record detected with key value XYZ

1. Go to Mass Data Maintenance work center
2. Select Export Materials link
3. Export the data from the General tab to CSV file
4. Multiple entries of the same Material are displayed due to multiple languages for the Material Description
5. Modify the required fields for all the line entries displayed for the Material
6. Select Import Materials link and upload the file to the General tab
7. Select Validate Data
8. Error occurs

In the Export of Materials screen, if the user specified only the Material ID, then results of the search will display the Material in all the languages.

While modifying the Material, you maintained the changes for all the entries of the same Material containing different languages for Material Description. Therefore, during the validation of the file, system detects the Material ID as duplicate record.

If the Material Description is maintained in multiple languages, while exporting the Material using Mass Data Maintenance, in the Export of Materials screen, specify the language in the Language field before exporting the data.

Maintain the changes in the required fields and Import the data. This change will be reflected for all the entries of the same Material containing different languages for Material Description.
