Resolution

When a user is inactivated in the instance, the system will continue showing the inactive user as a nominee in the Successors Portlet and as the incumbent of an active position in Nominations portlet.

NOTE: The system will not specify in the portlets that the user is inactive. Above image has the tag "Inactivated" added to the user's name, just to illustrate the scenario.

How to remove the inactive users from Successors Portlet?

To identify the inactive successors, it is necessary to run an Ad Hoc Report with Succession Domain, including inactive status of users.

After the inactive successors are retrieved, it is necessary to remove their nominations from the system. The nomination removal can be done manually in the Successors Portlet - by editing the nomination for the inactive user and clicking the "trash can" icon (Delete button), and submitting the action -, or by using the successors file to mass remove the inactive successors.

More information on how to use the import of successor feature, is available in the KBAs 2105083 - Succession Management - How to Import Successors? and 2375983 - Succession Management - How to delete all the successors of a position?

How to remove the inactive users from Nominations Portlet?

The Nominations Portlet will show the positions to which the user your are seeing the profile is nominated. Therefore, when inactivating a user in the instance, and not updating the position model to reflect this change, the inactive user will remain showing as incumbent of the active position in the Nominations Portlet.

To avoid inactive users to remain associated to active positions, it is necessary to update your position model, either by running a Sync of Position with Employee Data, or doing a Position Import and removing the inactive user as incumbent of the active position. NOTE: By removing the inactive user from the position, and not updating this information for the position - by specifying a new incumbent -, will make the position vacant (TBH).

More information on how to update your position model is available in the wiki page Succession Management - Nomination Methods and Features.
