Symptom
- PostgreSQL uses the ALTER TABLE command to change the definition of a table:
- adding a new column or a new constraint to a table,
- dropping a colummn from a table or a constraint on a table,
- changing the type of a column of a table,
- setting or removing the default value for a column,
- changing whether a column is marked to allow null values or to reject null values,
- etc. - PD drops then recreates the table.
