Symptom

  • I'd like to know more details about the Compensation Widgets, about Salary vs Team & Total Compensation History.
  • What type of data do they show?
  • Are these widgets standard?
  • Is it possible to edit and change configuration?

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login to SF
  2. View a User’s Compensation Information

Cause

  • The Total Compensation History widget shows the wage progression of an employee
  • The Salary Positioning shows the employee's salary in relation to the pay range.
  • Salary vs. Team Widget shows salaries for the employee and his/her PEERS.

 Compensation Widgets

Available Compensation Widgets

The latest People Profile supports four compensation widgets [Here]:

  1. Total Compensation History - Shows wage progression for an employee
  2. Salary Positioning - Shows employee's salary in relation to pay range
  3. Salary vs Team - Displays salary comparison with immediate colleagues (managers only)
  4. Compa Ratio vs Team - Shows compa ratio comparison with immediate colleagues (managers only) [Here]

 How to Permission

Required Permissions

Configure the following permissions in Manage Permission Roles [3527163 ]:

User Permissions Required:

  • Employee Central Effective Dated Entities → Compensation Information
  • Employee Central Effective Dated Entities → Compensation Information → Range Penetration
  • Employee Central Effective Dated Entities → Compensation Information → Compa Ratio [Here]
  • Employee Widgets → Select the specific widgets you want managers or administrators to access
Note:  Team Size Restriction 
 
  • The Compa Ratio vs. Team widget is not shown at all if the manager has more than 30 direct reports
  • The Salary vs. Team widget is not shown at all if the manager has more than 30 direct reports. 

 Some Troubleshooting Steps:  -if the widgets still don't appear after configuration:

  • Verify the manager has fewer than 30 direct reports
  • Confirm all permission settings are correctly applied
  • Check that pay component groups are properly configured with "Display on Comp UI" enabled
  • Ensure the widgets are activated in the system

Widget Visibility Control

  • You can control widget visibility through Role-Based Permissions (RBP) in Manage Permission Role for compensation widgets [KBA : 3527163 - Full Profile of the Latest People Profile FAQ - 1H 2025]. This allows you to hide specific compensation widgets based on user roles and permissions.

 To get the Widget’s to appear on People Profile, please follow this KBA

The Salary vs. Team :

widget displays a comparison of the employee's salary with those of their immediate colleagues, for example, annualized salaries. It is intended as information for the manager, who usually has permission to view the salaries of the team, and not for the individual employees, who usually only have permission to view their own salary. This means that individual employees can never access this widget to see how they compare to their peers. Managers can only see the comparison of their direct reports and not see how they themselves compare to their peers.

An employee’s peers are all employees who, on the date for which the data is requested:

  • Have the same manager in Job Information

  • Whose employment has not ended based on the end date in Employment Information

  •  Q - What type of data do they show?
     A - The explanation for these widgets can be found here 
      
  •  Q - Are these widgets standard?
     A - They are offered to customers on an opt in basis, meaning they can download them from the Success Store
     
  •  Q - Is it possible to edit and change configuration? 
     A – These cannot be customized. If you want these to be customized, it will need an enhancement request
     
  •  Q - Is the Total Salary Visible on the Total Compensation History?
     A – The graph will show the user’s Annualized Salary. If the user has multiple progressions in Annual Salary, this will appear on the graph
       
  •  Q - Who users do the Salary vs Team Widget?
     A - The system shows the currency of the selected employee. For teams with employees in different locations, the system shows the currency of the selected employee for all employees.

  •  Q - What currency do the values show in Salary vs Team. 
     A - This widget displays the currencies in the graph according to the currency of the logged in user.   

  •  Q - Can this tool be used by employees?
     A- This widget 'Salary Vs. Team' as stated in the guide Displaying Compensation Widgets | SAP Help Portal: displays a comparison of the employee's salary with their immediate colleagues. It is intended as information for the manager, who usually has permission to view the salaries of his direct reportee team, but not for the individual employees or his own peers. Therefore, make sure this tool access is provided to the manager only roles so that this widget access applies only to their direct reportees as target and not to the managers themselves.
