Symptom

  • When attempting to access AS Java applications like Portal, NWA, useradmin, or SLD, a 401 Unauthorized error is encountered before reaching the login screen.

Web application [useradmin] cannot be started. The error is: com.sap.engine.services.servlets_jsp.server.exceptions.WebDeploymentException: Error in starting application [sap.com/com.sap.security.core.admin]
...
Caused by: com.sap.engine.services.servlets_jsp.server.exceptions.WebDeploymentException: Cannot create private temporary directory for the servlet context of application [useradmin].
