Symptom
Cannot see the "is-beneficiary" field in the Dependants block on 'My Employee File' or 'New Hire Wizard'
Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central - Dependents Management
Reproducing the Issue
Method 1:
-
Add New Employee
-
Choose any Company that's not within Australia
-
"is-beneficiary" cannot be seen in Dependants block
Method 2:
- Search for an employee
-
Check dependents block
-
"is-beneficiary" cannot be seen
Cause
Either Pension Payouts are not enabled and configured or the user has a contract outside of Australia.
Resolution
This is expected behavior, "is-beneficiary" should only be displayed when Pension Payouts is enabled and a user has a Pension Payout.
From the handbook:
"Use of "is-beneficiary" field - When you add pension payouts, you can select this field to determine whether a dependent is the beneficiary of an employee’s pension payout in the event of that employee's death. Possible values are Yes and No. You must have activated Pension Payouts."
There is another caveat to this, if the contract resides within Australia and has a Pension Payout, the "is-beneficiary" will also be visible. This allows for only one dependent to be assigned as beneficiary at a time.

Alternatives
If you would like to have an "is-beneficiary" field without enabling Pension Payouts, a custom-string field can be set up that contains a Yes/No picklist.
