Symptom

  • Using Veritas Netbackup as a backup tool
        
  • Backup Server log reports error:
      
    Backup Server: 4.124.2.1: Archive API error for device='sybackup:: -SASE -b.backup.ASE.com  -PXXXXXX.dbdump.180821104335.stripe004::003': Vendor application name='Veritas NetBackup for SYBASE, Library version=770000, API routine=syb_open(), Message= Backup failed - syb_open: ERR - BSACreateObject() failed with error - System detected error, operation aborted.. Please refer to sybackup log for more info.

    D05: SYBMULTBUF ERROR: Emulator interprocess communication failed with error state = 9, error code=0, system message=Pipe I/O returned 0 bytes.

    Open Server Error: 16248.10.0: Error in srv_select() - file descriptor XX is no longer active.

    Backup Server: 4.194.2.1: Internal error. The srv_select() function was called to complete an I/O for 2232 bytes. After retrying 2233 times only 0 bytes have been read.
    Backup Server: 4.141.2.75: [0] The 'read' call failed for database/archive device while working on stripe device 'sybackup:: -SASE -b.backup.ASE.com  -PXXXXXX.cdbdump.180821110133.stripe003::002' with error number 0 (Success). Refer to your operating system documentation for further details.

  • After getting above messages, the next new backup dumps successfully.  However, the log does not print out correct message (FOR EXAMPLE: "Database db01: 4135090 kilobytes (1%) DUMPED") on progress of the backup but "Databasex?":
