2688210 - Position Copy Rule Creates an Additional Row

Symptom

While adding a lower level Position , the system adds a row to the Matrix relationship even though the higher level Position has no matrix relationship maintained.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental

Environment

Employee Central Position Org chart

Reproducing the Issue

  1.  Go to Position Org Chart
  2.  Select Position
  3.  Add lower Level Position
  4.  See extra blank rows in matrix position

Cause

There are rules in the Condition to set these fields. Even if they are not maintained in the Higher level position, they will be added to the new position as empty fields.

See Examples below:

Rule for Copying new position has no Matrix conditions:

When adding new lower level position there is only one Empty Matrix Field :

No extra Matrix position fields.png

If we then add a condition to Copy a Matrix Relationship Field:

You will see an Extra Empty Field appears in the New position for Matrix relationship even if previous position did not have a relationship maintained:

Resolution

You can Remove these conditions from the Copy Position rule or You can manually delete these when creating the position
