Symptom
When a position change workflow is cancelled, the non-actionable record still exists in Position history
Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental
Environment
Employee Central - Position Management
Reproducing the Issue
- Make a change to a position that requires workflow approval
- Workflow is then cancelled
- Non-actionable record still exists in Position History
Cause
This behaviour should occur when a Position change is Pending Approval and the Position objects Pending Data field is set to 'Yes'
This record will then show as non-actionable until the workflow is approved.
But in this example:
The Workflow approval request has been Cancelled:
And the record still shows as non actionable in the Positions History:
If trying to import Position data changes to this position, an error 'Pending Data Exist' will occur, this is because the system is already waiting on changes for this position, this error will exist until the non-actionable record is dealt with.
Resolution
If the workflow request is cancelled, the non-actionable record should not exist.
Contact support and inform them of each non-actionable record, include the position ID as well as their record dates, a ticket will then be raised with the engineering department to get the records purged from the system. Engineering will need customer confirmation that the records can be purged in the ticket.
