2688906 - Product Category Cannot Be Changed for Material

You have created a material however you are unable to select Product Category as the field is locked.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Product Portfolio work center.
2. Click on By Materials View.
3. Select the Product.
4. Click on Edit.

Here you can see that the Product Category field is locked.

The product category cannot be changed if the material was set as a template material.

The system works as expected.

In order to revert the scenario, you can set any other material with the same category as template. To proceed, you can follow the below steps:

1. Go to Product Data work center.
2. Select Material Templates view.
3. Create a new product category.
4. Set that as material template and remove the original product category ID as material template.
