2690940 - App Close Period for Product Master uses wrong time or date

• Planned Start date for Scheduled Job for Closing Periods for Product Master is at 31st of the month instead of the expected 1st of the month.
• App 'Close Period for Product Master' tries to close a period not defined in the "Scheduling Options" or "Parameters" of the Job
• Period Closing App returns 'Incorrect period in control rec. of CoCd; no conversion here. The control record has the current period (month/year)" when run through the Fiori app Close Period for Product Master
• App 'Close Period for Product Master' is expected to run on the first day of the Month but tries to close previous Month incorrectly
• 'Close Period for Product Master' scheduled job runs correctly for part of the year but fails on months where daylight saving time is active.

The flag "Use current date" is set

When the Flag "Use current date" is checked, the Close Periods App uses the current system date as the date parameter to determine which period to close.

This system date is based on the server's location, not the user's local time.

The System time for Cloud customers is UTC (Coordinated Universal Time).

If the job is scheduled using a local timezone and the UTC equivalent falls on a different date, the app will use that UTC date as the parameter and may even process the wrong period.

It is suggested to set the Time Zone field in the scheduling options to UTC.
Any configured start time will then refer directly to UTC, ensuring that the system date matches the intended schedule date regardless of location or time of year.

This eliminates any dependency on local time offsets or daylight saving time.

When keeping a local timezone, verify that the UTC equivalent of the scheduled time falls on the intended date. The safe window depends on the offset in both directions.

For timezones ahead of UTC (UTC+X): schedule at X:00:01 local or later, otherwise local midnight falls on the previous day in UTC.
For timezones behind UTC (UTC-X): schedule before (24-X):00:00 local, otherwise late evening rolls into the next day in UTC.

Examples:

• UTC+2 / UTC+1 (e.g. Europe/Berlin, CEST in summer / CET in winter): Schedule between 02:00:01 and 23:59:59 local. This covers both offsets. Earlier than 02:00:01 falls on the previous day in UTC during summer.
• UTC-3 (e.g. America/Sao Paulo): Schedule before 21:00:00 local. At 21:00:00 or later, the UTC time rolls into the next day.
• UTC-8 (e.g. America/Los Angeles, PST): Schedule before 16:00:00 local. At 16:00:00 or later, the UTC time rolls into the next day.

To make these configuration changes, follow these steps:

1. Open the app Close Period for Product Master.
2. Cancel any scheduled jobs with an unexpected planned start date.
3. Create a new scheduled job.
4. Navigate to Define Recurrence Pattern.
5. Update the scheduling time using one of the following options:
   1. Option 1 (recommended): Set the Time Zone field to UTC and enter your desired start time.
      The system date will always match your configured date, regardless of location or daylight saving time.
   2. Option 2: Keep your local timezone and adjust the start time so its UTC equivalent falls on your intended date.
      Refer to the timezone examples in this note to determine the correct local time for your offset.
6. Click OK.
7. Review or set the job parameters.
8. Click Schedule.
