2693179 - Edit button does not appear for documents

I have uploaded a document to the content section of SAP Jam. However the 'edit' button' is greyed out.

1. In any browser other than IE (Internet Explorer) navigate to content section of SAP Jam
2. For certain content the edit button is grayed out and a message appears stating "This feature is supported on Internet Explorer 7 and newer (32-bit), Microsoft Office 2007/2010/2013 on Windows."

The edit button is only available in IE and this is a technical limitation.

Use IE or else download, edit and re-upload the item.

The technical reason behind this behavior:

• IE supports ActiveX SharePoint controls, which is available and invoked in IE, which eventually leads to editing mode into Microsoft Office.
• SAP would have to write a full non-IE browser plug-In which can support ActiveX model for this SharePoint control, and editing of this into Microsoft Office. Therefore supporting this in other browsers is not planned for the future.
