2693333 - SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) can not re-establish the Direct Live Connection to BI system during the current SAC user session if the remote system is once disconnected (eg. BI session timeout)

This KBA relates to the legacy version LUC 2.x only. It is heavily recommended to upgrade to LUC 3.x for Full Support and for a much simpler deployment process.

• SAP Analytics Cloud can not re-establish the Direct Live Connection to BI system during the current SAC user session if the remote system is once disconnected (eg. BI session timeout)
• Error: Unable to retrieve data from the datasource. Error: [[object Object]]
• Once you get receive this error, you are not able to open any story consuming the same Live Data connection, until you log off then log back SAP Analytics Cloud
• The issue occurs in both Password Authentication, and SAML SSO Authentication

• SAP Analytics Cloud
• Live Universe Connect 2.x

1. Define a Direct Live universe connection to a BI system.
2. Create a model using the connection.
3. Create a story using the model.
4. Logout from SAP Analytics Cloud
5. Login to SAP Analytics Cloud
6. Open the story
7. Enter the BI user credentials
8. Story is displayed with data, and refresh the data.
9. After a period of time, the underlying BI session times out.  (To simulate a timeout, you could also open the CMC of the BI system and end the BI user session manually)
10. Click Refresh button in the story
11. Error message shows: Unable to retrieve data from the datasource
12. Close and re-open the story, or open any other story using the same connection, then it shows the same error.
13. It is not possible to reconnect the remote system (BI) again during the current SAP Analytics Cloud user session.

The issue has been resolved with the BOE Live Universe Connect (LUC) version 2.  Download and install the latest LUC.

Workaround:

1. Log out SAP Analytics Cloud
2. Log in SAP Analytics Cloud
3. Refresh the story
