2694772 - When Adding a New GTIN to a Product : "GTIN for quantity type EA not valid, checksum not correct"

Symptom

You are faced with an error message when adding a GTIN to your Product.

Environment

SAP CLOUD FOR CUSTOMER

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Products workcenter.
  2. Go to the Products Administration view.
  3. Go to the GTIN tab.
  4. Click Add line.
  5. Maintain EA (each) as GTIN Unit of Measure.

Results: You are faced with the error message: "GTIN for quantity type EA not valid, checksum not correct".

Cause

GTINs are global data structures that employ digits and can be encoded into various types of data carriers.

In the system, when resorting to one Unit of Measure, the same amount of digits has to be kept for all Products.

The Global Trade Item Number you opted for in your Products Administration, and the one you are trying to add to a Product do not have the same amount of digits.

Resolution

Keep the consistency by maintaining the same digits amount throughout your Products Administration.
