2695372 - Unable to Assign Time Account Type to Time Type via Import

Symptom

Import of Time Type-Time Account Posting Rules fails with "Please select a posting priority for Absence time types" message

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Time Off

Reproducing the Issue

Prerequisites: Rules associated to the time account type, time account type and time types are already loaded into the system

1. Go to Admin Center > Import and Export Data.

2. Select Import Data then make the following selections:

a. Select Generic Object: Time Type - Time Account Posting Rules.

b. File: Select the import file template to be loaded

c. File Encoding: Unicode (UTF-8)

d. Purge Type: Incremental Mode

e. Key Preference: External Code

3. Click Import.

4. Go to Admin Center > Monitor Job. Job Status shows that the import Failed.

5. Click on Download Status link under the same column name and open the log file. Error shows that the import failed because posting rule is not set on the respective time type(s).

Cause

Issue occurs when time type configuration is loaded separately via import following the sequence: 1.) Time Type and 2.) Time Type - Time Account Posting Rules.

In 1808 release, we have introduced a new setting called Posting Priority to allow a flexible configuration on how absences are deducted to time accounts. (see KBA 2677661) If Time Type configuration is loaded using the sequence above, dependency of the time account posting rule (time account type) to the posting priority setting on the Time Type is not determined, therefore, no posting priority is set on the time type, leading to the error message when assigning time account posting rules.

Resolution

To assign Time Account Posting Rules to Time Type via import, load the configuration as a ZIP file:

1. Go to Admin Center > Import and Export Data to download the time type template including dependencies.

2. Select Download Template and make the following selections then click Download.

a. Select Generic Object: Time Type

b. Include dependencies: Yes

c. Key Preference: External Code

3. Open the ZIP file template and delete the highlighted files below.

4. From the local folder, open and fill out the Time Type and Time Type - Time Account Posting Rules import templates accordingly.

5. Open the import_sequence CSV file and modify the import sequence as follows then save the changes.

7. Go to Admin Center > Import and Export Data and select Import Data. Select ZIP File as file type, and browse for the import template. Click Import.

Time Type should be created with time account type assigned and posting priority being set properly as defined in your import file.
