2695796 - Error "Technical object invalid" appears when using the App Change/Display Technical Object - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

  • Unable to open equipment in the app Change/Display Technical Object due to error "Technical object invalid".
  • Equipment created through an outbound delivery is not viewable in the app Change/Display Technical Object.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Access the App "Display Technical Object".
  2. Enter equipment number.
  3. Press Enter, see error "Technical object invalid" occurs.

Cause

A "Technical Object" references either a fully created equipment or functional location, not serial material.

Resolution

To convert serial material into a full equipment, open the app "Change Material Serial Number" and click "Equipment View" to activate equipment view, or open the app "Manage Material Serial Numbers" and click "Activate Equipment View".

After saving the changes, the serial material will be converted to a full equipment. Then the equipment will be valid in "Display Technical Object" application.
