2697060 - Infected with 11 (SIGSEGV) in astc__dtxp_scavenge causing server crash - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • Client connection unexpectedly terminated and ASE shut down
  • The ASE errorlog contains an infected with 11 error at address astc__dtxp_scavenge

    Current process (0x61690b10) infected with signal 11 (SIGSEGV)
    Address 0x00000001017459a4 (astc__dtxp_scavenge+0x16c) ...

  • As the spid is holding ASTC spinlock, ASE will automatically and immediately shut down:  

    Spinlocks held by kpid 123456789
    Spinlock ASTC_SPIN at address 000000016bda4880 owned by 123456789

  • With a stack trace that includes the following functions:

    astc__dtxp_scavenge
    astc_dtxp_get_free
    astc__add_dtxp

  • The full sequence reported in the ASE log is attached in file KBA_astc__dtxp_scavenge_Full_Errorlog_Sequence.txt
