2697083 - stopdb terminates with Error Code 13 - SAP ASE for Business Suite

Symptom

  • Following an SAP Kernel major release upgrade on systems running SAP ASE database, stopdb fails with following error -

HOST:sidadm 54> stopdb
stopping database SID ...
Error: stopping database failed.
stop database failed
/usr/sap/SOL/SYS/exe/run/stopdb: Terminating with error code 13

  • startsap also fails with same error while shutting the database down.
  • shutdown of the ASE database directly via isql works fine.
