2699221 - Session expiry, RWS 00008, Communication Error, RWI 00011 error while accessing Fiori BILaunchpad through loadbalancer

Symptom

  • How to configure the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform RESTful Web Service (on tomcat) through an Apache load balancer
  • Accessing Visual Difference or Administrators Cockpit in the Central Management Console (CMC) does not show any results (e.g. spins indefinetely or gives error)
  • Getting error: You session is not valid or has expired, after loggin in the Fioried BILaunchpad
  • Fiddler traces show: HTTP 404 : " RWS 00008","message":"No logon token provided in the X-SAP-LogonToken HTTP header or query parameter. (RWS 00008)"}"
  • Opening the Webi (Web Intelligence) Application from the BI Launchpad (BILP) results in the following error from Chrome/Edge:
    Internal error ("[IllegalArgumentException] (Error: RWI 00011)")
    IE gives the error "Communication Error"
  • Opening a new Web Intelligence report, then selecting Universe as a data source returns the following error:
    WIS 30270: An internal error occured while calling "getSessionInfosEx" API.
  • In Fiori BI Launchpad (BILP) the following error may be intermittently faced:
    Error (WSR 00400)
    The Resource of type "Occurrence" with identifier "N" does not exist
