Symptom
An Error Message in your Territory cleanse endeavor : "Territory cannot be deleted; transaction documents are using territory".
You cannot complete the cleaning for the related Territory.
Environment
SAP CLOUD FOR CUSTOMER
Cause
Your territory 123 is still assigned to data in the system.
The error message above means that there are Accounts assigned to the territory. You might get a similar error if other documents have the territory assigned (for example Sales Orders).
Resolution
You may change the territory ID maintained in those documents by taking the following steps:
-
Identify the Accounts for which the territory was changed from 123 to the new Territory ID 456 (the target Territory of your initial endeavor).
-
Proceed to modify the realignment rules to change the territory back to 123, to resume to the initial Territory management.
-
Create a new Realignment Run to change the territory for these Accounts from the new Territory ID 456 back to Territory 123. All the related accounts and corresponding transaction documents now have 123 as Territory ID.
-
Modify then rules toward the new territory again: Create and execute a new realignment run which will change the territory for the accounts as well as the transaction documents.
