2700334 - Dependent Files Errors Are Not Shown in Data Workbench

Symptom

You have performed an import of a Complete Business Object, such as Service Requests, and the errors for dependent files, such as Service Request Items, are not shown in the Data Workbench Monitor view.

Environment

  • SAP Cloud for Customer.

Reproducing the Issue

Perform any import of Complete Business Object in the Data Workbench filling in more than just the Root template. If there are errors in the dependent files, these will not be considered, only the errors from the root file.

Cause

If there is a record whose child has an error, then in such cases the root record will not be processed as well, and the error will be available in the Monitor view.

If the child record does not have any related root record, the root records will be processed and the child is left unprocessed.

Example:

There are 2 Root records, ROOT1 and ROOT2.

The child record for ROOT1 is ROOT1_CHILD1.

In this case, if the child record has an error, the ROOT1 record will not be processed as well, and there will be an error available for this.

In this same file, there are also 2 child records CHILD_A and CHILD_B, for which there are no corresponding root records.

Here, the other root records will be processed, as they do not have any corresponding root records, and the child records will be dangling records.

Resolution

This is the system behavior.

Child records will only stop the import process if they have corresponding root records.
