2703987 - PRD gives "Received fatal alert: protocol_version" or JNI error message

When trying connect to PRD with correct credentials, one of the following error messages is generated:

"org.eclipse.birt.report.data.oda.jdbc.JDBCException: There is an error in get connection, java.sql.SQLException: javax.net.ssl.SSLException: Received fatal alert: protocol_version" OR "Failed to load the JNI shared library ..."

Launch or try to test connection with Plateau Report Designer.

The issue happens because of the OLD Java version in the system.

In order to get the latest version, Java access: Oracle Java's official page. 

After downloading, execute the file and remove any older Java versions that are no longer needed. The installer will give you an option to remove old versions at the end of the process. Choose based on applications requirements.

Once the installation is complete, close the PRD tool and relaunch it. 

If after following these instructions you are still facing issues, we recommend uninstalling and reinstalling PRD.
