Symptom
You want to filter for Visits start dates in a certain month and when using the filters Greater Than/or Equal and additionally Less Than/or Equal, the results are not filtered for the values. For example, the filter are set for Greater Than or Equal 01.09.2018 and Less Than 01.10.2018 and you expect the results to show only Visits for the month of September 2018; however, you get results that are not filtered at all.
The same applies for all the advanced filters across the system (like Opportunities etc).
Environment
SAP Cloud for Customer
Reproducing the Issue
-
Go to the Visits workcenter.
- Go to the Visits view.
- Click Advanced Filters.
- Click More Options for the field Start Date.
- Choose Greater Than and set the date.
- Click Add Option, choose Less Than and set the date.
- Click Ok and then click Go.
Result: the results are not filtered as you have expected.
Cause
Both of the selection criteria are independent and return all the values for the criteria each.
Resolution
The selection criteria to choose for your scenario is the Between option. Please select Between and set the dates in the relevant boxes.
Note: The selection Less Than/or Equal and Greater Than/or Equal can be used to exclude Dates. Eg: you want to exclude Data between Dates 15.09.2018 and 20.09.2018. Then you may use Greater Than 20.09.2018 and Less Than 15.09.2018. The results will return all the Data which has dates greater than 20.09.2018 and dates less than 15.09.2018 and it will not return what is in-between. That’s when you use Greater Than and Less Than together.
