2704178 - The error HTTP 500 "Redirect is not possible" occurs in /sap/public/myssocntl or in /sap/public/bc/icf/logoff

Symptom 1.

When calling SAPGUI transactions that open the application in a browser window, the call fails with the error HTTP 500 Internal Server Error. The browser displays the URL http(s)://<host>:<port>/sap/public/myssocntl?sap-client=<client>, instead of the URL of the actual application.

This may occur for any SAPGUI transaction that opens an ICF service in a browser - for example, ESH_COCKPIT, BRF+, SOAMANAGER, NWBC, SM_WORKCENTER, DBACOCKPIT, etc.

In the dev_icf* traces (visible in the transaction ST11), the below error is logged:

Symptom 2.

When logging off from an ICF service (e.g. WebGUI, Web Dynpro, or the transactions listed in point 1.), the logoff fails with the error HTTP 500 Internal Server Error. The browser displays the URL http(s)://<host>:<port>/sap/public/bc/icf/logoff?sap-client=<client>.

In the dev_icf* traces (visible in the transaction ST11), the below error is logged:
