2705145 - Error Message: 'Entry for field not consistent as per Code List Restriction. Please contact your system administrator'

After setting or changing the value of a field and clicking the Save button, the system displays two error messages:

• 'Save Failed'
• 'Entry DEF for ABC field not consistent as per Code List Restriction. Please contact your system administrator'

SAP Cloud for Customer

We will use Tickets as an example.

Prerequisites:

• The ticket has the ABC dropdown field which contains the value DEF (ABC represents the name of the field, DEF represents one of the possible dropdown values in the field ABC).
• The field ABC has a code list restriction which has itself set as the control field.

Steps:

1. Go to the Service Workcenter.
2. Go to the Tickets view.
3. Open a ticket.
4. Press the Edit button.
5. Set the value for field ABC to DEF.

System shows two errors:

• 'Save Failed'
• 'Entry DEF for ABC field not consistent as per Code List Restriction. Please contact your system administrator'

The error is caused by field ABC having a code list restriction which uses the field ABC as its control field. Starting with the 1811 release, the system will show a warning message when setting up similar code list restrictions.

In order to solve this issue you have to delete the code list restriction on field ABC, which uses the field ABC as its control field.
