2705948 - Manager receives a workflow notification, although he/she is not an approver, contributor or in a CC Role

Symptom

A change in an employee's (subject user) profile triggers a workflow. The manager receives a notification although he/she is not an approver, contributor or in a CC Role.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central - Workflows

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a workflow and assign an approver who is not the employee's manager. Do not add the manager as an Approver, Contributor, or CC Role.
  2. Assign the workflow to a Job Information transaction.
  3. Submit a change for the employee to trigger the workflow.
  4. Check notifications and observe that the manager receives a workflow notification even though they are not configured in the workflow.

Cause

If the subject user is also an approver, contributor or in a CC Role of this workflow, his/her manager will receive a notification.

Resolution

  1. This is how this feature is designed.
  2. The manager will receive a notification, if the subject user is also an approver, contributor or in a CC Role of this workflow.
  3. For updates to system design, please raise a new enhancement request by following KBA 2090228 on "How to submit an enhancement request" as process.
