2708697 - Error 325: Adaptive Server finds no legal query plan - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • A query with a large select list involving a two table join and a 'group by' clause
  • On an ASE with allrows_mixed (default) optmizer goal and hash joins off
  • Fails with error 325:

Msg 325, Level 18, State 1:
Server 'sapASE', Line 3:
Adaptive Server finds no legal query plan for this statement. If an Abstract Plan is forcing the query plan, check its correspondence to the query. If not, please contact Sybase Technical Support.
